Postdoctoral Researchers
Apurv Shukla
Apurv is a Postdoctoral Associate at Texas A&M working with Prof. Le Xie and Prof. P.R. Kumar. His research interest lies in systems and control. He obtained the PhD from Columbia University in 2022 and his bachelor’s degree from IIT Kharagpur, India, in 2016. During that time he spent his summers at RWTH, Germany and EPFL, Switzerland.
Kiyeob Lee
He received B.S. and Ph.D degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, USA. He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Texas A&M University. His research interests include modeling and control of demand response, electricity markets and hosting capacity analysis.
Subir Majumder
Subir Majumder earned his Ph.D. degree through a Cotutelle/Joint Agreement between the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India, and the University of Wollongong, Australia, in 2020. Previously, he held positions as a post-doctoral research associate at Washington State University, Pullman, WA, USA, and as an Engineering Scientist at the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV, USA. His research interests encompass power systems modeling, operations and planning (including operational resiliency), power system economics, distributed optimization, power quality, and the smart grid.
Graduate Students
Ali Menati
Ali Menati received his B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Sharif University of Technology, and the Mphil degree in Information Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering at Texas A\&M University. His research interests include online convex optimization, electricity markets, and data-driven cyber-physical systems control.
Amit Jena
Amit Jena received his Integrated Master's (BS+MS) in Mathematics from the NIT Rourkela, India, in 2016 and a second Master's degree in EE from Iowa State University in 2020. He is currently working towards his Ph.D. degree at Texas A&M University. His research interests include theoretical and algorithmic developments in Meta-learning and Reinforcement learning, with applications in power and energy systems such as stability analysis, energy disaggregation, etc.
Dongjoo Kim
Dongjoo Kim received his B.S. and M.S. degrees both in Electrical Engineering from Korea University, Seoul, Korea, in 2013, 2015 respectively. From 2016 to 2022, he was a Senior Researcher in Smart Power Distribution Laboratory, Korea Power Electric Corporation (KEPCO) Research Institute, Daejeon, South Korea. He is currently Ph.D student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University. His research interests include distribution system operations, and machine learning.
Fatemeh Doudi
Fatemeh obtained her B.Sc.(2020) and M.Sc. (2022) degrees from Sharif University of Technology, focusing on communication systems. In spring 2023, she joined the group, where she focuses on the application of AI models in power systems to contribute to a sustainable future.
Qian Zhang
Qian Zhang received his B.E. and M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2019 and 2022 respectively. He is working toward the Ph.D. degree in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University. His research interests include machine learning, optimization in the electricity market, and stability and control of the dynamic network.
Rayan El Helou
Rayan El Helou received both the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, USA. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, USA. His research interests include modeling and control of power grids with focus on distributed energy resources.
Xiangtian Zheng
Xiangtian Zheng is pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at Texas A&M University, advised by Dr. Le Xie, after receiving his B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2017. He is broadly interested in power system security and machine learning.
Anindita Samanta
Anindita Samanta completed her Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Electrical Engineering from Mumbai University, India, in 2019. Currently, she is pursuing a Master of Science degree in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University. Her research focuses on the integration of large flexible loads with the grid and the associated electromagnetic impacts. Before joining Texas A&M University, she gained professional experience as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer at Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd. in Mumbai, India.
Sienna Shi
Sienna Shi is currently a Master’s student. She received her B.Sc degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Oregon State University, in Corvallis, Oregon. Her current research interests are demand response and data science applications in power systems.
